iPad is iStupid

I have to give respect to Apple and Steve Jobs. They've many revolutionary inventions like the iPod and they have been extremely successful for the past decade. They've always had some competition but Apple as a company has always came on top regarding sales. Now they introduce a new project to the market, something so new that it's almost mind-blasting! It's called an iPad aka, an oversize and highly expensive iTouch.

The iPad is nothing more than an iTouch, they both have the same features but the iPad is just bigger and more expensive. What ticks me off the most is that this piece of junk is going to be successful, why? Two words, Apple Product. Apple has a way to really get people to sell their things even though it's hardly better than their last version. They make it seem newer, faster and cooler but in my mind I just think its stupid.

The iPad is just a waste of money, the cheapest model is worth around $550 with 16 GB. The name itself is very weird because when I think of pad I think of women and their periods. Who knows whats next for Apple, hopefully they invent something more useful and new. I think the iPad was just made for marketing purposes nothing more. No matter how stupid Apple is, I'm still on planning to buy a Macbook, one of Apple's better inventions.

Ironman 2 Review

A couple of weeks ago I went with my friends to watch Ironman 2 at Scarborough Town Center. It wasn't really my first choice but since A Night on Elm Street was rated R and my friends and I weren't able to sneak in. I didn't watch first Ironman though so I really didn't know what to expect for Ironman 2. Worst of all, I'm not really a big of an action movie fan because I just think they all almost have the same plot and there's nothing really big expect for their explosions.

In my opinion, Ironman 2 was sort of a waste of 10 dollars. What I hated about it the most was that there was just too much talking! Yes some parts were funny but how could an action movie be an action movie with action? There was just too much talking and to be serious I almost fell asleep during the movie. The best part was during the fight scenes and I have to admit it was pretty good. The thing was that there was only 2 fight scenes in the whole movie and that was sort of disappointing.

Not being an action movie fan, Ironman made me hate action movies even more. I can't really compare it to the first movie but if it was anything like Ironman 2 then it probably wasn't good. I can't believe Ironman 2 was even considered #1 in all of Canada. Though it wasn't amazing at all, it helped to introduce upcoming superhero films with cameos of Captain America and his shield and even Thor and the crater he created in the end of the credits.

Coldplay and Stop Motion

WATCH THIS!:

For this years video course we've been introduced with the art form of stop motion. It seems easy at first to make stop motion films but actually making one yourself takes so much time. 24 frames of pictures take up one second of film and imagine making one 1 minute of film!

When i saw this Coldplay video i was truly amazed. I didn't how they could of thought of an idea like this better yet make a whole music video out of stop motion. Not only is the person being used for stop motion but also the floor which contains the chalk is made in stop motion. I don't really think everything was made in stop motion because this would have taken them years to be able to create it but I still find it fascinating and it makes me really wonder how they truly made it.

Stop motion is very time consuming but in the end its one of those things that if you take time and be patient with it it will eventually pay off. Maybe next year we can do another project with stop motion, because you could do so much with it.

Making of Gameboy

Trailer:

The film Gameboy was the first film I ever made for the art show and i can truly say it was successful. It took hours of work with acting, editing and composing music but all and all we finished and we had a blast making it. When making the script, I wanted to make something relate to people in our school but at the same time does not require much of a budget. i wanted every setting easy accessible and simple. The story is about a guy named Andy who is just letting life pass him by because he can't stop playing his gameboy. He lacks a social life, confidence and everything else in between and he sees that when his gameboy actually breaks.

Making the film was fun but definitely hard work. It was hard finding the right actors to portray the characters and telling them what to do is a whole other problem. Editing too was kind of an issue for our group because we used multiple computers to edit and we often misplaced clips and audio files. As a group we pulled through and we met the deadline so the film was able to be shown in this years art show.

Despite tons of last minute changes and hours of rendering when it came to editing the film, the whole thing was a great experience not just for me but for our whole group. It really taught us to meet deadlines and also to be organize. Now that we have one film under the belt we now know what it takes to get a film done and this will definitely help us for making films in the future.

RE: THE FINAL TEMPEST

Tempest Art Show was a huge success fro our school and especially for the film students. It really helped to express how hard we worked and how much we learned through out the year. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to screen all the films that were being shown in this years art show. Every film that was shown really brought something different and unique on the table and all were suitable for everyone to watch. What film I loved the most was Plug In Baby! because I thought the editing and the plot of the movie was great. As a video student I can relate to how the films were made and it definitely took the m a while to edit the text and especially films the camera angles.

Having my films in the art show was kind of embarrassing at first. I didn't really enjoy seeing my face up on screen and having people look at it. I got used to it and people actually enjoyed watching my film. People thought it was cute, some people thought it was funny and some people didn't really enjoy it that much. Critics are critics and as the filmmaker we must gather their opinion to help improve on films for the future.

Our film Gameboy in my opinion was a good film, I don't think was great. We could have definitely improved on a lot of things such as the acting, our organization, our editing and our music but all and all i was satisfied with what we accomplished as a group.

Not only did I think it was a success for my group, but it was a success for all of Mary Ward. Planning the art show was time consuming, putting everything up was hard work but in the end nothing could have been done without the help of the teachers and especially the students of Mary Ward.

RE: Children of Men ADAPTATION

Books have always been adapted to movies over time. With books such as Harry Potter, Twilight, Lord of the Rings, etc. I'm not much of a reader so I can't really compare the book to the movie because I haven't read the book. Now by reading Children of Men I can see how people would react to adaptations. Adaptations are never the exact same thing as the book and we can see where directors change and remove various scenes.

When it came to the movie of The Children of Men, it was very different from the book. In my opinion the cinematography and the actors were great but the way it was interpreted was way different from the book. I can say that it was better than the book, it was more realistic and even more exciting with the explosions and the scenes. The settings in the movie compared to the book was more dark and chaotic. There was more violence in the movie compared to the book and we can truly see what was happening with the world. Also when it came to the plots I can see how people would be accept with all the changes but it gave the audience more of a twist. The people who actually got to read the book would see how refugee would carry the baby, and people who haven't read the book would also have as good enough experience.

In my opinion the book wasn't as great as the movie and the movie itself wasn't even that amazing. But it really got you to think how life would be like if humans couldn't produce babies and also how the world would end. It got you to question, what if?

RE: Word Clouds @ WORDLE

There is a variety of art forms in the world. There's dance, paitning, drawings, music and even animation. It's amazing to see that art can be made out of fonts and words like a word cloud. I think the use of word clouds is very neat because you can do so much with it. There re a variety of fons, colours and shapesd that can be amde and not word cloud is the exact same as another. It helps to also give life to the words and let them speak out.

For my word cloud I have a very emotional and symphathetic theme and I have to incorporate a word cloud in my project. Im thinking of making a more dark and greyish word cloud to help set this sort of mood. Also by using a easy readable font and nothing to explosive or eyecatching because that doesn't go with the mood. For affects im thinking of using more fades and slides because its sleek and effective. I don't want to use many bouncy and explosive effects because the mood is more calm and gentle.

This project is going to be really fun and we can really explore and use many effects in LiveType. We can play with colours and fonts as well to help give the mood for our poem and really hep the poem come to life through words.
